Orientated to minimise heat loss and solar gain, the building is designed to reduce reliance on artificial lighting by maximising natural light. Sustainability features also include a super-insulated and airtight facade, greywater recycling and roof-mounted solar panels for hot water.
A and A+ rated materials were used for the majority of the major building elements and secondary aggregate sourced from the adjacent Port Talbot Steelworks.
